Chain IQ acquires Koettschau-SPS GmbH increasing its consortia buying capability

Chain IQ acquires the German-based Koettschau-SPS GmbH and simultaneously establishes a new location in Munich with immediate effect.

Koettschau-SPS is a service company previously based in Speyer, running a European market- focused procurement alliance, planning, managing and implementing joint purchasing initiatives for its alliance members. Founded in 2015 by Maic Köttschau and Udo Hennemann, the company manages indirect material consortia buying for its portfolio consisting of several international companies.

With the Integration into Chain IQ, the company will in future be operated as a separate division within the Group named “Chain IQ Smart Joint Sourcing”, and will be responsible for the Group’s global smart joint sourcing as well as procurement consortia business. The new division will be headed up by Maic Köttschau who will be part of the Group Executive Board of Chain IQ with immediate effect, reporting directly to the Group CEO. Therewith, Chain IQ is extending its geographical footprint to Germany and establishes its new location in Munich as “Chain IQ Germany GmbH” headed up by Remo Vettiger in addition to his function as Head EMEA.

The acquisition of Koettschau-SPS GmbH and the associated establishment of the new Chain IQ location in Germany has important strategic benefit for the Group. Marcel Stalder, Group CEO said: “The new location in Germany will provide Chain IQ enhanced access to the German procurement market and network as well as greater client proximity. Within the next 5 years the main focus of the new Chain IQ Smart Joint Sourcing division is to continue building up the current European procurement alliance, to roll out additional consortia buying alliances across all Chain IQ regions and to consolidate the Group’s expertise in this field to differentiate itself from the market”.
