Cyber-Attack Chain IQ Group AG
On June 12, 2025, Chain IQ, along with 19 other companies, was the target of a cyberattack, using tools and techniques that had never before been seen on a global scale. This cyberattack resulted in data theft. Data from some Chain IQ customers was published on the dark web.
Immediately after the data was published on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 5:15 p.m. CET, all relevant systems were checked, secured, and protective measures were strengthened. Chain IQ is working closely with its IT infrastructure and cyber security outsourcing partners InfoGuard and Kyndryl. Both companies are global leaders and work according to the highest security standards. Law enforcement authorities were immediately involved. The incident was contained after 8 hours and 45 minutes by revoking the attackers’ access to the affected environment.
Affected customers, employees, and partner companies were informed immediately on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. CET. Chain IQ complies with legal requirements, particularly with regard to data protection and information security.
Chain IQ provides services exclusively in the area of procurement and supply chain management for various customers, including internationally active banks. Personal data is always handled in accordance with contractual agreements and in compliance with applicable data protection laws. Chain IQ does not have any data relating to its customers’ core business. Accordingly, no bank customer data was stolen in this attack.
In connection with the cyberattack on Chain IQ, data containing employee business contact details of selected clients were exfiltrated. This data contains the internal telephone numbers of client employees.
Chain IQ takes this attack very seriously and will provide further information as soon as new findings become available.
